Prospective Lesbian Adoptive Parents Looking Towards Tomorrow

November 21, 2009 By: Eva Category: Adoption

Tomorrow, Nadia and I are going to an ‘adoption conference’. I learned about it today when I was surfing the net. The conference will be held from 9 to 5 and will feature 90 workshops; it should be informative.

I will meet different attorneys, adoption agency reps and other adoptive lesbian and gay parents, so I’m looking forward to it. At the beginning of any process, I like to get a lot of information about what I may be getting in to.

When I first began exploring my sexuality, I read many, many books on lesbians, coming out, and the gay community. I know it makes me sound like an egg head, but it’s true.  I’ve recently read more about domestic adoption and I’ve had some conversations about it, but it will be great to be at a large conference with people who work in the field and who may have experienced domestic adoptions for themselves.

Since my last IVF cycle was cancelled, I’ve had many ups and downs (mostly downs) but I’m looking forward to tomorrow.

I’ll let you know how it goes.

  1. Sounds great. I am also a researcher so I know exactly what you mean. There are also some IVP ladies with tons of info on adoption (at least one of whom I see on your blogroll).

  2. That sounds so cool. We spent a year and half researching adoption and met so many great families. I am still in awe of the adoptive families community and the support that we received. A conference sounds like a great place to get a whole lot of information at once.
