Insult to injury. This is criminal. I just saw this post. I don’t know how I missed your last few posts, and I’m so sorry to have returned to reading and see so much discouraging news. My old employer is based in Massachusetts, and I’d been considering going back to work for them, long-distance, in order to get Mass. health care b/c I was assuming it would be less discriminatory …. Fuck. And fuck them. Big, big hugs. I hope when the dust settles, you will fight this.

Really really push it. I have friends (lesbians) who had to appeal all the way to the insurance commissioner in MA and got it in their favor.

Oh do not feel embarassed!! That is how they want you to feel so you don’t make a bigger deal out of the clearly unfair treatment. This should be illegal! I am not sure when everyone will realize that we are all people and it is wrong to treat us differently becuase of what small things add up to make us unique.

My aunts are finally getting married on October 25th in California after being together for the last 15 years. They are so very excited and are acting exactly like I did when I was married at 26. It was at that point that I truly saw how these rules seperating people are so painful. Not that I agreed with it before, but once I saw the joy on my aunts face, it made me so angry that this had been kept from her for all this time. The child issue is exactly the same. Your sexuality does not define you as a person. You have the same rights to a family that I have, and it truly should be against the law for the insurance company to treat people differently!

I am outraged and disgusted for you. How can they justify that? How can that be legal? It seems terribly discriminatory to me. Equally as appalling is their lack of knowledge of their own policy! You called so many times to see if your IVF would be covered and you were given misinformation. It really seems like they pulled that crap out of their back pocket. I’m so sorry that you have to deal with this. Yet another smack in the face by the powers that be just for being who you are.
